Scott Pallets takes it back to (sustainability) school

Cathy Morio, Commercial Manager for Scott Pallets’ recovery service and Lucia Caruso, Account Manager at Scott Pallets, were invited to present at the Supply Chain Sustainability School North West Supplier Day which took place on 7th December in Manchester.

Sustainable construction was the theme of the day, so Cathy and Lucia made a presentation on the circular economy in practice and discussed a case study on the B&Q Green Pallet Scheme – a joint initiative to optimise pallet re-use and minimise waste for the major UK DIY retailer.

The case study highlighted the intelligently designed ‘green pallets’ that are manufactured from sustainably sourced timber, then used, returned and repaired for reuse before ultimately being recycled, as a sustainable example of circular economy principles in practice that benefit multiple supply chain partners.

Launched in 2012, the Supply Chain Sustainability School is a multi-award winning initiative which represents a common approach to addressing sustainability within our supply chains. With more than 14,000 members, the School provides free practical support in the form of e-learning modules, tailored self-assessment and action plans, sustainability training and networking opportunities.
